Artificial intelligence, design, and the future of the creative act: an international conference, Department of Visual Communication, School of Design, University of Haifa. Leading creators, researchers, and designers from Israel and around the world will meet on November 3-4, 2026, for an in-depth discussion of the creator's place in an era of technological revolution. The accelerated entry of generative AI tools into the creative arena raises fundamental questions about the definition of design, originality, human-machine partnership, and the role of the creator. A new international conference initiated by the University of Haifa's School of Design will examine the fascinating interfaces between code and imagination, under the title: Designing with / by / for AI: The future of creative act. The conference, to be held on November 3-4, 2026, will center on the dialogue between design practice and critical research. On the conference's first day (3.11), there will be a central lecture day open to the public, including keynote talks by leading creators and researchers from the local and international scene, alongside a variety of lightning sessions presenting contemporary projects, conceptual experiments, and practical insights from the field. The conference's second day (4.11) will be devoted entirely to hands-on learning and will focus on dedicated masterclasses for students from the Department of Visual Communication Design, led by the guest speakers.
