Country: Denmark, 2025 Director: Ole Junker โฑ Runtime: 82 minutes ๐ Language: Danish and English ๐ฌ Subtitles: Hebrew Opus 17: The International Festival of Culture and Art Films. The Art Museum in Copenhagen lent half a million kroner to artist Jens Haaning so he could create a work that would display banknotes on two large canvases. But all that remained on the museum wall were two empty frames and the title the artist gave the piece: "Take the Money and Run." The banknotes had vanished. Is this art? Is Haaning an artistic genius or simply a thief? Here's what he says at the start of the film: "I'm very proud of the work I made. My script for 'Take the Money and Run' is better than a Hollywood movie, and one day they really will turn it into a film. It's the story of an old, sick man with financial troubles, forced to steal money from the till in order to create a work of art. That's the story โ add to it the serious car accident I went through, and the fact that I was hospitalized in a locked ward." And that is indeed the film โ and it has a surprising ending too. 82 minutes, Danish and English, Hebrew subtitles. Screening and synopsis courtesy of the Opus Festival.
