Kumiko is a traditional Japanese art in which delicate, precise wooden patterns are built from thin sticks. During the workshop we'll learn to measure and sand each stick gently and patiently, until it fits perfectly together with the other pieces – no nails and no glue, just clever joinery. It's work that is both a challenge and a meditation – creating geometric shapes, focusing on small details, and finally enjoying the delicate look of light passing between the lines of wood!
