In the first half of the 18th century, Baroque instrumental music reached new heights of complexity, virtuosity, and expressiveness. In the concerto and sonata, composers created bold combinations of wind, string, and keyboard instruments, building musical textures based on an ongoing dialogue — at times contrasting, at times collaborative. At the heart of the program stand masterworks by two of the greatest composers of the late Baroque: Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, in a special arrangement for the ensemble of soloists performing in this concert, and Georg Philipp Telemann's Quartet in A minor for recorder, oboe, violin, and basso continuo. Alongside these two works, the ensemble will perform rare gems by composers of the same era who worked in the same cultural milieu: Johann Friedrich Fasch and Gottfried Finger. Sonatas and quartets for recorder, oboe, violin, and bassoon, in various combinations and with harpsichord accompaniment, will reveal the rich range of tone colors created when these instruments meet. Kati Debretzeni – baroque violin. Doret Florentin – recorders and artistic direction. Amir Rabinovich – natural trumpet. Shai Kribus – baroque oboe. Benny Aghassi – baroque bassoon. Aviad Stier – harpsichord.
