Observatory in Daylight – Starting from Sukkot 2026 How can you see stars in the middle of the day? This Sukkot, we're breaking the boundaries of time and place with a new addition, the first of its kind in Israel: a live observatory, in broad daylight. An advanced robotic telescope, installed in California under dark night skies and in conditions suited for astronomical observation, lets visitors at the MadaTech science museum in Haifa watch the night sky in real time, even though it's broad daylight here in Israel. Through the telescope we can observe planets, the moon, constellations, nebulae, galaxies and more, while also watching a live broadcast of the telescope itself as it moves and adjusts toward its next target. The observatory will open to the public on September 26, 2026 Jumping into space! Blasting off from Haifa to the edge of the universe with our new space exhibits: Sabbilon 5 – The Journey to Space: Fasten your seatbelts, because an immersive launch simulation awaits you, taking you straight into a breathtaking spin among the stars and the most fascinating phenomena in the galaxy. The Legendary Observation Window – The Cupola: Have you always wanted to know what Earth looks like from 400 km up? Step into the exact replica of the famous window from the International Space Station and look down on the world from above. A Look at the Skies – Solar System Exhibit: Come get to know our cosmic home up close – the sun and our neighboring planets – and discover how each of them plays its part in creating the unique conditions that make life on Earth possible. Israel in Space: Come see how Israel has become a trailblazer in space as well, with a display of satellite models, original astronaut equipment, and a real space lab that returned to Earth. A Look at the Universe: A stunning guest exhibition from the American Museum of Natural History, letting you witness the birth of stars and supernova explosions captured by the world's most advanced space telescopes. Space Selfie: Don't miss humanity's most iconic photographed moments beyond the atmosphere, including the moving story of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, of blessed memory. VR Space Station: You're invited to float aboard the International Space Station in virtual reality with VR headsets and more. One small step for Haifa, one giant leap for space.
