The year is 1999, and the business community in West Flanders, Belgium, is swept up in a wave of enthusiasm over high-tech investment opportunities, especially in the innovative company of a tech genius named Luc and his partner, marketing wizard Geert. But the bubble is about to burst, and Geert and Luc are beginning to realize they have only one more day of freedom before the tower they built - a tower of shell companies, dubious innovations and political corruption - comes crashing down. An investigative report about them is about to be published in the press, and the police will follow. Anke Blondรฉ's film is inspired by true events. The biting screenplay deals with corporate culture, with all the greed, aggression and denial that come with it, adding a touch of humor to the proceedings and feeling more relevant than ever. A Bitter Christmas. 115 minutes, Dutch, English and French, Hebrew and English subtitles.
