In Russia in the early 1990s, amid the chaos of the Soviet regime's collapse, a brilliant young man named Vadim Baranov spots an opportunity and makes his way to a rising KGB agent: Vladimir Putin. Baranov shapes the new regime, blurring the lines between truth and lies, ideology and manipulation, and only a beautiful woman named Ksenia dares to refuse him. One day he may want to talk about the dark secrets of the regime he helped build. In the hands of French auteur Olivier Assayas, Vadim Baranov's fictionalized story becomes a sweeping political thriller, a deceptive game of alternate history, and a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes at the heart of the Russian regime. The film also features an outstanding cast led by Paul Dano, Jude Law and Alicia Vikander. 143 minutes, English, Hebrew and Russian subtitles. Courtesy of Lev Cinemas.
