"Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff is one of the most powerful and beloved works of the 20th century. The work is based on a collection of medieval poems in Latin and old German, celebrating the beauty of nature, love, and the cycle of life, as well as songs mocking the hypocrisy of the religious establishment, and more. Orff gave the words a colorful musical garb combining driving rhythms, rich melodies, and grand, impressive choral passages. All of this turned the ancient texts into a carnival-like celebration and gave the work enormous popularity. Following the original orchestral version, which required a huge ensemble of musicians, various arrangements have been written over the years that preserved the roles of the choir and soloists while reducing the role of the orchestra. This time we will perform an arrangement for an ensemble of two percussionists and piano, by Tomer Yariv.
