Hassan, a 55-year-old Palestinian taxi driver, picks up Amir, a young Israeli new to the city who is trying to hold onto a confusing romantic relationship. What begins as a random ride turns into repeated meetings in Hassan's cab between two men who have left everything behind, moved to a foreign country, and lost their way. It is precisely there, on drives through Berlin's frozen nights, that the two find a genuine connection — one that gives Amir a feeling of home, and encourages Hassan, for the first time, to look squarely at the story of his own life. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, where critics hailed it as a rare gem, and it drew enthusiastic responses from audiences who were moved and laughed. It won the awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Jerusalem Film Festival; it was nominated for 11 Ophir Awards and won the Best Actor award for Ihab Salame and the Best Supporting Actor award, given to Ido Tako. 95 minutes, English and Hebrew, Hebrew and English subtitles.
