"Making a Scene" — group exhibition at Pyramida In Hebrew, "to make a scene" means to stir up a commotion, draw attention and act conspicuously. But a "scene" is also the field and artistic community — the meeting point of studios, exhibitions, people and the connections formed between them. The group exhibition "Making a Scene," at the Pyramida Center for Contemporary Art, presents the work of 17 artists from the "New Barbizon" movement, and focuses on those who don't wait for an invitation but create opportunities for themselves. The exhibition explores the mechanisms at work within an artistic community and the power created when people take initiative, build independent infrastructure, and connect creation with community activism. Their works, their stories, past exhibitions they took part in, and the map of connections between them will be displayed on the walls of Pyramida, offering a rich, wide-ranging look at civic initiative and an artistic, independent community born just a few streets up, on Hassan Shukri Street in Haifa.
