Guest conductor: Giacomo Baj (Italy). From the madrigals of the Renaissance giants Gesualdo and Monteverdi, through the "Sins of Old Age" of Gioachino Rossini — as he himself called his late works — to the Sanremo hits that brought us, and the whole world, the contemporary Italian romantic spirit: the young Italian conductor Giacomo Baj, who serves as assistant conductor at La Scala and as artistic coordinator at a center for historical music performance in the city of Pavia, leads the Israeli Vocal Ensemble in a program of Italian music from every era. A program about love, jealousy, and disappointment beneath a Mediterranean sun and a Venetian moon.
